  • Traditional lipo– In this case, a cannula is inserted under your skin in the area where the fat is to be removed. A saline solution is then used to break up the fat cells, before the fat is sucked out of the body. This is known as suction assisted lipectomy.
  • Laser lipo– This utilizes a laser to break up the fatty cells in the body, before fat is suctioned away. The difference between this procedure and the traditional one is that this procedure uses less effort and time due to the advanced technology used to melt the fat cells. This male liposuction procedure is referred to as ultrasonic assisted lipectomy.

What to Expect During the Male Fat Removal Procedure

The doctor will use either local or genera anesthesia during the male fat removal procedure. With local anesthesia, the doctor will numb the area using an injection. Saline water is also injected into the area to help break up the fat cells in the body. Adrenaline will also be injected into the targeted area. The aim of this is to help reduce the amount of bleeding and bruising experienced.

When the process is being carried out, you might experience some medium pressure or tingling sensation on the area that is being worked on. You will not feel any pain due to the anesthesia used. The process should take about an hour or up to 5 hours depending on the area that is being worked on. There will be no need for an overnight stay at the hospital.

In fact, you can head back to work again after the procedure if local anesthesia was used. The area where the incisions were made will be covered with a small bandage to protect any fluid from leaking onto your clothes. But if general anesthesia was used during male liposuction procedure, you will need to head back home for some rest and recovery before you can resume work a few days after. You will also need to organize for someone to pick you up from the hospital after the male fat reduction procedure since you will not be in a position to drive.

Some drainage tubes and compression garments and antibiotics will be necessary to help you heal faster during recovery. Even though you should avoid any strenuous activity for the first month after the procedure, you should try and walk around as soon as you can after the procedure instead of just lying down.
