Types of Liposuction Surgery

There are a lot of people who have in the recent past been interested in learning a thing or two about the different types of liposuction. This is something worth paying attention to, given that it is an option you might want to take up at some point in life. Liposuction is generally one of the most effective ways of removing unwanted stubborn fat from your body. Given that there are different liposuction types, it is important for you to learn a bit about them so that you know what would work well for you if you ever are in a position where you need to get the procedure carried out.

A lot of doctors usually find it easier to assist patients who are knowledgeable about the procedure that they want. This is a good way for them to exchange ideas with you, and more importantly, help you get a better understanding of the procedure you are getting. In the course of liposuction, a cannula will be inserted into your skin, and it is this that will help in suctioning the fat from the body. The doctor will be moving the cannula around your skin randomly in order to target the parts where there are specific fat deposits that you need to get rid of.

The different types of liposuction procedures

Over the years, there are a lot of people who have been interested in understanding more about liposuction, and this has made it quite a popular procedure. Other than that, most people are now more confident in getting the procedure done because of the fact that with an improvement in the technology used, liposuction is now less painful, safer, and easier than ever. The following are some of the new techniques that are commonly used:

  • Tumescent liposuction
  • Laser assisted liposuction
  • Ultrasound assisted liposuction

Take note that whichever of the types of liposuction that you choose, the procedure will be carried out as an outpatient process. Therefore, it can be done either in a hospital, an ambulatory surgery center or even the doctor’s office, as long as it is properly equipped.

More often, there is no need for you to stay overnight in the hospital unless the amount of fat that was to be removed from your body is so much. In fact, in some cases, you will have local anesthesia administered to help you feel more comfortable during the procedure. You may or may not be given a sedative to ease the process of relaxation, but you can discuss this with your doctor. In some cases, general anesthesia or deep sedation with local anesthesia will be preferred.
